About This Assessment
This quiz is informed by the Stages of Change model (Prochaska & DiClemente, 1983) and therapy readiness research. Readiness for therapy involves three components: awareness that change is needed, willingness to engage in the therapeutic process, and practical capacity to access and attend sessions.
Important: You do not need to score "high" to benefit from therapy. Many people begin therapy while still uncertain — and the therapeutic relationship itself often builds readiness.
About this therapy readiness quiz
Source basis
This quiz looks at goals, distress, support needs, practical barriers, and openness to talking with a mental health professional.
Limits
Readiness is not a clinical status, and you do not need to feel fully ready before asking for help, especially if symptoms or safety concerns are growing.
Next step
If you are unsure, start small. Review therapy options, write down one goal, or contact a provider to ask what a first session would involve.
